Al Abdali Medical Center is a multi-specialty hospital in Amman, Jordan. The building is powered by a 8.2 MW photovoltaic power plant, the largest solar plant in the world powering a single healthcare facility according to its developer. Luceco with partners MEMCO supplied a cost effective energy efficient LED lighting solution for this state of the art hospital.
The medical centre has a 200 bed facility and provides best practice patient-centered care as well as promoting research and education. It was considered that the lighting played a pivotal role in relation to wellbeing for both patients and staff and that as costs play a key role in the healthcare environment, estate maintenance and operating expenditure could be substantially reduced by introducing a highly efficient LED lighting design.
Offering an efficacy up to 129 Llm/cW, Platinum LED Downlights were installed in communal areas, circulation spaces and corridors, offer running cost savings of up to 80% when compared with traditionally lamped fittings. Other luminaires in this downlighter family include the Platinum Surface Mount providing opportunity for creative lighting design where a recessed ceiling void is not available and the popular Platinum Mini.
The other principle luminare installed was the IP65 rated Edgelit Framed LuxPanel installed in the medical procedure rooms. The 600×600 Edgelit panel features a TpB polycarbonate diffuser and is suitable for use in 15 or 24mm standard exposed grid ceilings delivering upto 115Llm/cW. Variations include fixed output and dimmable drivers as well as being Luceco Wireless Lighting Controls compatible.
Al Abdali Medical Center was founded by an investment group behind the Clemenceau Medical Center in Beirut, affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine International and benefits from the knowledge and expertise of the Middle East’s finest medical professionals. It was opened in July 2019 and is considered to be the first hospital in Jordan offering patient-centered care.
